Read your YouTube mail, I sent you a message over a month ago!

Have you seen the new blog video?! Thanks to resident creative director, Peter, for once again creating something fun to watch while listening to that catchy Adam's Blog Theme.

As to keep from just a boring recap of the summer, I am now pleased to introduce this summers TOP TEN! A sampling of the best items, occurrences, people and places of Summer 2008. If you were involved in any/all of them: thank you! If not, I hope this write up conveys some of the essence that was this past summer.

TOP TEN PART ONE

Prilosec OTC
Seriously, Prilosec is a life-saver. After struggling for nearly 3 weeks with horrible stomach pains, Prilosec worked its magic and fixed my tummy. Now, who knows what really was wrong with me.... self-diagnosis (thank you various websites) and a call to my mother would have me believe that I was suffering from gastritis. Peter, on the other hand) thought (and maybe still thinks) I needed to have all of my organs removed (he would call me everyday to let me know that having your gallbladder out was a very routine surgery--doctors even race each other to see how fast they can do it.) This story has a happy ending thanks to the 14 day dose of Prilosec. I'm back to eating (and drinking) whatever I want.

Brunch
Having been known to have thrown a few famous brunches in the past, I wondered if I could ever capture this magic again. The answer is YES.

The 12 hour brunch began in the morning with lots of homemade little treats and lots of champagne. It continued into the evening with more champagne, wine, and whatever else we could get our hands on by the end of it. I nearly destroyed the apartment during a performance of Wicked--I was trying to wrestle the broom away from Bob and ended up falling backwards and almost hit our bar. The night ended with me trying to lock Bob out of the apartment after a fight?/altercation occurred between some of the guests. All in all, a good time was had by all--but I think especially me.

ZHJ
Bob's twink Zach makes the list with his humorous appearances here in Boston this summer. During the first visit, Zach refused to eat anything but dessert mints at the Chinese restaurant--well, thats not really true--he did try some fried rice, but after pouring salt on it, he decided he didn't like it. On the second visit, we all kayaked on the Charles (well, Peter, Bryan and I actually canoed). Bob and Zach went together in a kayak and it was fun to watch as Zach rowed Bob around like he was Cleopatra on the Nile. Third visit: "Is it okay if I sleep under your covers, Bob?" (enough said) Fourth and most recent visit was for lunch with Zach and Zack (Zach's boyfriend). After a confusing episode with pesto sauce, we discovered that new Zack was very funny--despite not knowing who Julia Child was.

Les Gurmundos
My side project for the summer was as contributor to Bryan's food blog. Les Gurmundos has sparked a BLOG WAR with rival food blog, Boston Chomps--it is just a little too suspicious that she reviewed Stella's RIGHT AFTER I posted my review--same goes for her review of Flour Bakery which appeared moments after Peter posted something on his visit there. Currently Gurmundos is ranked 4th on the Restaurant Blog Leaderboard. Chomps is 3rd. But the Gurmundos are gaining....

Part of being a Gurmundo was spending way too many nights at restaurants during Restaurant Week. I think Peter and Bryan went to 100 restaurants that week--and you can read about all of them on the blog--go there now--beat Chomps! BLOG WARS!

Sea Legs
http://thebatterysdown.com/songs/sea_legs-clip.mp3

Need I say more....check out The Battery's Down website over on the right margin!

You Must...

Musical Mondays

Where is Adam's Blog? Do not be fooled by the restaurant’s décor. Outside the restaurant is pink. Inside, the walls are a turquoise green, there are fish tanks everywhere, pictures of Bangkok, etc. Endure this, and you will be rewarded with the best Thai food I have ever tasted. Seriously.

If you can make it to the restaurant for lunch (they are not open for lunch on Monday, but these specials apply for the weekend as well), then you should order off of their lunch specials menu. For $8.95 (the price has gone up recently) you get a bowl of Tom Yum Soup (the best version of the soup I’ve ever had), an entrée and a side appetizer. Even at $9 it is still worth it.

Even though I’ve had the Tom Yum Soup multiple times, every time I eat it I am still hit by the spices and immediately have a coughing attack that lasts for a minute exactly. But I can’t help myself…the soup is too good to let a little tickle in my throat stop me. The lunch version of the soup contains 2 pieces of chicken and 1 shrimp. If you order it separately you can specify chicken or shrimp and then you get more meat. They add mushrooms right before serving and, even though I’m not really a mushroom fan, I love them in this soup. A tip if you are ordering this soup to take-out is to ask them to include the mushrooms on the side and then they do not shrivel up in the hot broth! I know my stuff.

For the appetizer sides, I highly recommend three: the spring rolls, the golden triangles, and the chicken wings. The spring rolls are crunchy and delicious…but after one of them I am usually satisfied. So what I like to do is ask for 1 spring roll and 1 golden triangle: the best of both worlds! The golden triangle is also crunchy but contains a vegetable puree inside that nicely offsets the sweet dipping sauce it is served with. While the chicken wings look very similar to a chicken wing you would order at a Chinese restaurant, the spice rub they add gives them a unique taste—I would say a little curry and a little cumin might be used.

The entrée portion at lunch is nicely sized. I have 2 favorites—Pad Thai and Yellow Curry with either beef or chicken depending on my mood. The Pad Thai is slightly sweet and contains big pieces of chicken and small shrimps. They do not overload it with too many peanuts or bean sprouts—something I appreciate very much. The Yellow Curry is served with a generous portion of rice. The sauce contains potatoes and pineapple. Mostly I order the yellow curry because I like the pineapple and potatoes it comes with—there are many other curries (red, green, masaman, basil, “wild wild wild,” choo chee, mango, panang…) and they are served with other vegetables (eggplant, peppers, bamboo, onion, carrot, baby corns).

I love the people that run Bangkok Bistro. I frequent the restaurant so much that they have come to recognize me when I come in. Their customer service is wonderful, and on occasion, they have provided us with a sampling of some of their favorites dishes: their shumai (shrimp dumplings) are tender little bites of goodness, the satay (both chicken and beef) are well flavored and come with cucumber sauce and peanut sauce. Tip: If you order the Bistro Sampler you get the best of all of their appetizers. Finally, their Thai iced tea (although too sweet for me) is a favorite with many other visitors.

I have also been to the restaurant for dinner, and while you don’t get the same deal as the lunch special, the food is just as good at night! My advice for dining there at night is this: bring a friend or a date who will have a good sense of humor about the décor, order the Tom Yum Soup (if you cough like I do when you eat it, it will be a great ice breaker), order a sweet dish and a spicy dish (they can make their drunken noodle dish VERY spicy on request) and share a great evening of food and fun!

Bangkok Bistro gets a A

South End Foodies 2

Gaslight
http://www.gaslight560.com/
560 Harrison Avenue
Boston

A welcomed edition to the new restaurants of the South End is Gaslight, a posh French bistro with an excellent brunch and dinner menu. The restaurant décor reminds me of the kitchen from Clue the movie: Walls lined completely with white tiles (reminiscent of a metro station) are met with shelves lined with bottles of Pernod making the dining room an aesthetically pleasing place to enjoy a meal.

I highly recommend ordering from the raw bar. The oysters and shrimp are superb, and the cocktail sauce that accompanies a shrimp cocktail is perfectly balanced with just the right amount of horseradish for a pleasant kick. I've enjoyed oysters on the half-shell several times, and they have been consistently fresh and delicious. While the items from the raw bar are set at market price, they have always been incredibly affordable with oysters usually ranging from $2-$3 per oyster and likewise for the shrimp.

My favorite thing to do at dinner was to pair either oysters or shrimp with the duck rillettes appetizer. However, on my most recent trip to Gaslight, I was saddened to see that this item has been removed from the menu. Subsequent trips to their website have confirmed this as well. If the chefs at Gaslight happen to be reading this, please bring this appetizer back.

Gaslight makes enjoying French food in Boston affordable. Hors d'oeuvres like, pâté de compagne ($7.50) and escargot ($8.50) are not only delicious but nicely priced. The pâté is served with toasted baguette (and this is in addition to the warm baguette and fresh butter every table receives upon beginning a meal) and wonderful Dijon mustard. The only disappointment are the warm slices of pickles that they include instead of cornichons (but you can--and should--ask for a jar of cornichons instead.) The escargots--as expected--are very well done in an herbed butter sauce. Those wishing to try snails for the first time will not be disappointed by Gaslight's presentation.

Dinner entrées range from the simple croque monsieur ($9.75, which is served w/ french fries even though it did NOT say so on the menu. Points have been taken off because when we ordered a side of french fries to go along with the sandwich, the waiter did not inform us that french fries would already be coming with the meal....the menu now reflects that fries come with the dish--thank you) to more sophisticated dishes including duck confit ($17.50) and steak frites ($19.75). The duck was perfect and served with beautifully delicious herbed potatoes. The duck leg was served over warmed greens. The steak frites (order rare to medium-rare) can be served with herbed butter or bernaise sauce but is such a good and flavorful cut of meat that it does not need any help. This meal--as the name suggests--is also served with French fries--and Gaslights' fries do not disappoint. I am slightly disappointed by the dessert selection. Luckily, you can finish your meal by sampling a selection of Gaslight's cheeses (selection of artisan cheeses: $10.75).

While Gaslight offers a very fun experience at the bar as well, it must be noted that while the portions of drinks--like wine, champagne, and cocktails--resembles a smaller, European size; the prices remain American. I have not been disappointed by Gaslight's wine list (I spent my birthday there downing glasses of good champagne), but their cocktail list, full of specialty concoctions (including some drinks made with Absinthe) does not necessarily appeal to me.

The quality of the food and the atmosphere both outweigh the small fact that the drinks aren't as big as in other Boston restaurants. You can feel confident bringing a date (although I highly recommend reservations if you are on a timetable) or a group of friends to the restaurant. My advice: sample a few appetizers, don't miss out on the raw bar, and make-up for the fact that the drinks are small by having two or three and enjoy a leisurely dinner just like the French.

Gaslight gets an A-/A.

(For a review of Gaslight's brunch, go to BostonChomps)

South End Foodies

Being such a famous blog star, I have been invited to contribute to other blogs. A new one, Les Gourmundes Officionados de South End Ristorantes Flagrante Delecto, has just posted a review from a recent experience I had at a sad little Italian restaurant.

To be fair, the food was pretty good.... but read on to find out how the atmosphere can ruin a good dinner.

STELLA'S: NOT STELLAR YET

Stella's
1525 Washington Street
Boston
www.bostonstella.com

The perfect summer evening. The perfect dinner companions. It ends there.

Peter called as I was leaving work and wanted to know if I wanted to have dinner. It was the perfect night to dine outside, so I thought, "let's go to Stella's!" I had never been and always wanted to eat there. Its upscale Italian. Fun yellow awnings adorn the large windows with lots of patio seating.

Peter called an got a reservation. Oh Peter, he always knows how to get a reservation. He just made a call.

Unfortunately, the outdoor seating is on a first come, first serve basis and is not subject to the reservations holding us a table indoors. On a whim, we agreed to eat inside. In retrospect, this was a mistake, even if we did have to wait a little while for a table. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot and there was hardly any moving air. The waitress, finally realizing how uncomfortable we were, apologized at the end of the meal, explaining that their AC wasn't working so well.

It appears that Stella's is THE hotspot for pregnant women. I counted at least 3.... who knows how many other women in the place were knocked up. The entire middle of the restaurant was occupied by a large table of women gathered for a baby shower (equipped with large cake made out of diapers). Who has a baby shower on a Thursday night at 6:30?

The Food
Warm, stuffy rooms do not promote appetites. That isn't science, that's experience. I guess tough times has fallen upon Stella's as they only provided us with one small piece of bread (Peter and Bryan had been before and noted they used to provide an entire bread basket). P & B insisted we get this fried risotto ball for an appetizer. Unfortunately, only 2 of these balls came in an order (again, Peter and Bryan recalled 3 being previously provided) so we had to split them in awkward portions (aka I took one whole ball and P & B fought over the remaining one).

I had swordfish for dinner. Jean and I had been talking about it at lunch, so when I saw it on the menu it caught my eye. The piece of fish was very small. And I don't think I've ever said this, but the potato was the best part of the dish. Bryan ordered a pasta dish which was too hot for me to try and Peter ordered pork which made him want to puke (literally). The pork looked more like veal and was pretty much flavorless (I had to try it).

To drink I had a Sam Adams Summer Ale...hoping it would transport me back to the summer nights I spent outside at AriBar on Boston Harbor. Unfortunately (I seem to be typing that word a lot) the thoughts of enjoyable summer evenings lasted only for a fleeting moment, because then the music began. Halfway through the meal someone decided to turn on unbelievably loud music. It was so loud and inappropriate that almost everyone in the restaurant looked up when they turned it on. It was strange trumpet music and it was so brassy and harsh that it was hard to hear P & B who were sitting very close by.

The highlight of the meal was a near Andrew Keenan Bolger sighting. We decided, however, that the person we saw was far too tall to really be AKB....but this possibility certainly provided a needed excitement to a rather otherwise disappointing meal.

reviews of the new iPhone....

iPhone 3G: Good news for those who want to buy it and good news for those who already had an iPhone!

Recently, I had an accident. I was getting out of my car and I dropped my iPhone. If you are not familiar with the iPhone, almost everything is done on the touch screen. Its fantastic. There are only 2 real buttons you can actually push.

I happened to drop my iPhone on one of those buttons. I didn't damage the screen (as I have done to MANY iPods) or the inner mechanics of the phone. Since the button was now jammed into the phone due to its impact with the ground, the phone kept turning itself on and off.

Luckily I still had my old Motorola Razr phone to use in the meantime! (Read: I hate that phone.)

So I brought it to my TC (technology consultant) at work who has many Apple Certified plaques and things hanging on his wall. I thought, maybe this man can help me. Do you know what he did? He attacked my phone with a screwdriver and a little tiny chisel. I HAD ALREADY TRIED THAT!! ....and I don't even have a certificate! (although once someone did call me a Mac expert...and I am the Apple Computer Consultant to FolderWave (hahah) but seriously, that part is true!)

So I sort of came to the realization that I would need to buy a new phone, now that it was ruined way beyond just dropping it on the ground.

Randomly a few days later I was near the new Boston Apple Store.. ooooh! Its so shiny and glassy and pretty. I can't delay telling you how wonderful the experience was:

I walked in and was greeted by a girl who I immediately fell in love with. She had a headset on and called up to the genius bar to see if they could sneak me in earlier than the next available appointment. So 10 minutes later I was sitting with my genius, Mike. I explained to him everything I just typed for you (leaving out that I am a Mac Expert). Mike says, "usually this is not covered under warranty, but today we'll hook you up." He opens the cabinet behind him and gives me a new iPhone. A NEW iPHONE! Now, it is one of the old versions, but it was still BRAND NEW! I went back down the shiny glassy stairs, trying not to fall since you can hardly even see the steps and high-fived the girl I had fallen in love with at the entrance only 15 minutes before.

AND THEN! When I plugged the new phone into my dock, all my numbers, texts, photos, and videos magically reappeared! I LOVE APPLE.

And now the new 3G Phones. The back of the phone is black. I think I like that a lot. But the even better news is that people with the old version of iPhone will be able to download the free software update, essentially giving them the features of the new 3G Phone. Network and speed aside (and I really don't mind the speed of my current iPhone), they will be very similar.

Read the experts write ups of the new phone now:

Mossberg: “If you’ve been waiting to buy an iPhone until it dropped in price, or ran on faster cell networks, you might want to take the plunge, if you can live with the higher service costs and the weaker battery life. The same goes for those with existing iPhones who love the device but crave faster cellular data speeds. But if you already own an iPhone, and can usually use Wi-Fi for data, you probably should hold off and get the free software upgrade before deciding whether it’s worth getting the new hardware.” (link)

Pogue: “So the iPhone 3G is a nice upgrade. It more than keeps pace with advancing technology, and new buyers will generally be delighted….But it’s not so much better that it turns all those original iPhones into has-beens. Indeed, the really big deal is the iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store, neither of which requires buying a new iPhone. That twist may come as a refreshing surprise to planned-obsolescence conspiracy theorists — and everyone who stood in line last year.” (link)

Baig: “Extra, extra: iPhone 3G: The Sequel, is worth the wait….It’s cheaper, faster and a lot friendlier for business. Apple’s blockbuster smartphone already had nifty features such as visual voicemail, a splendid built-in video iPod and the best mobile Web browser I’ve ever used. With GPS newly added to the mix, this handheld marvel has no equal among consumer-oriented smartphones.” (link)

Mossberg also wins the multimedia race. Although Pogue is reportedly working on a sequel to last year’s “I Got An iPhone” (an earnest musical number sung to the tune of “I Did it My Way”), Mossberg’s video is already up, and available here.

he almost yodels the song....

I am literally just sitting on my couch playing this clip on loop. (yes!)

I had checked upcoming recordings and NOTHING! ....just Swingland and Barefoot. No Braden, Nikki, Ava G, Cameron... no NOTHING! But yesterday, there it was, despite the reports: the pilot episode of Summerland! "The N" once again prevails and has only changed the time (which is not really something I care about anyway since I have a wonderful DVR looking out for me...and, I guess, occasionally providing me with surprises!)

Also: Please note the 2 blogs I list on the righthand margin. AKB's blog has always been there. But Craig Steven's Blogg is a new one..... Oddly enough, both Andrew and Craig just blogged together and you NEED to check it out, because Craig (sadly, a fictional character) ranks on Andrew the whole blog for only starring in Spelling Bee's national tour and not on Broadway.

Plus, and we've touched on this in past blogs, but there is once again a strange parallel between me and Andrew--this time it comes in the form of Jesse McCartney! I'm not sure if I believe it, since the entire interview seems made up, but Andrew admits to performing Jesse McCartney during auditions! Someone needs to find me a clip of that!

a pre-season 2 post...

Many of you may wonder what I do with my time INSTEAD of write wonderful blog entries. The answer is simple. I have become obsessed with the short-lived TV phenomenon, Summerland. I remember seeing a tiny snippet of one episode back in like 2002 or 2003 when it was actually on TV. It was a late-night marathon on "The N" (by the way, besides the Food Network, "The N" is the only TV station I watch anymore... well maybe Bravo, but that's it) that really got me aquainted with the show. At first, it was my infatuation with Zac Efron that hooked me--he guest stars as Nikki's boyfriend and later becomes part of the cast. As I watched, however, it has lead to an even more unhealthy infatuation with Jesse McCartney (future blogs on this subject to come).

Last night "The N" aired the series finale. After consulting my DVR, I discovered they will not be cycling back to Season 1....That 70's Show will be airing in its place. :-( (Thank God I have every episode of Season 2 saved on the DVR!)

However, once the new fall season begins, DVR real estate will indeed be at a premium....so PLEASE....SOMEONE.....BUY ME THE ENTIRE 2 SEASON COLLECTION OF SUMMERLAND (at the very affordable price of only $129.99!) Thats 8 (EIGHT!) DVDs! (!)

Come on!

               Summerland
Seasons 1-2
All 26 episodes
8 DVDs
Regular Price
$207.99
Our Price
               $129.99

Stay Tuned for Season 2

Maybe you decided to return to Adam's Early Morning Chat, after months of NOTHING, hoping that the cartoon portrait of Biggy from March would no longer be up on the page (no offense Biggy). WELL TODAY'S YOUR DAY!

Finally Mr. Wonka shouted, "I shall be ruined! Close the factory!" And that's just what he did. He locked the gates and vanished completely. And then suddenly, about three years later, the most amazing thing happened. The factory started working again, full blast! And more delicious candies were coming out than ever before. But the gates stayed locked so that no one, not even Mr. Slugworth, could steal them.

Stay tuned for the beginning of a new season of blogs!

Musical Mondays: LIZA!

Happy Birthday Christopher!

Well, a little snippet about Liza Minnelli....

As many people know, I liked to perform "Some People."

When I was 13, I wanted to be a professional ice skater...right? But my parents...took me to see a Broadway show. And it changed my entire life!

The show...was Gypsy, starring Ethel Merman, yes, it was wonderful....

But after performing it across the globe, there comes a time when you have to say, "I need a new song to sing." I'm not trying to be deep--literally, I was getting sick of singing it. So then I started liking "Liza with a Z" but that had to stop when I injured Mark's small nephew in the middle of one of the performances....

Here, by birthday request, is another one of Liza's hits. Quite honestly, I do not like this song--so I don't think you should plan on hearing me sing this one anytime soon....but its done well for Liza.

"Humor doesn't suit you...."

Todd #1 said that to me once: "Humor doesn't suit you." I forget what it was in reference to, and I'm not sure if he actually meant it or not. But, I think I'm pretty funny. THANK GOD I THINK I'M FUNNY. I probably laugh more at my own jokes than anyone else.

Why am I rambling like this? Well, this is all to set up the following YouTube clip. I'm calling it an "Adam's Blog Video Short" since it is only about a minute long. Feel free to enjoy it over and over again. Tim: I did not include the full theme song so you can watch it on loop without the song delaying you from the content.

I've been very bad at updating lately. I know this. And to make it up to all of you, I'm giving you this video as a present. Now, perhaps this will completely backfire and you won't find it funny at all.....and you can let me know that it's true, yes, humor really doesn't suit me. However, I'm taking the chance that maybe, just maybe, you'll find this funny.

Enjoy!

Musical Mondays: 1776

1776 is a musical starring our Founding Fathers, chronicling the story of the creation of the Declaration of Independence. Clearly this is a plot that lends itself to catchy tunes!

I want to be Ben Franklin if I ever get the chance to be in this show. I've seen the show done in Boston with Mark and Karen. After seeing the show Karen and I became obsessed with the show and the movie (which we borrowed from Peter for an extended period of time... SALT PETER JOHN!!)

The craziest song from the show would have to be the Lees of Old Virginia. And leave it to YouTube to have THE BEST version of this song I have ever seen. Let me set the scene in case you haven't seen the show (shame on you). John Adams (who is basically the lead role in the show) with the help of Ben Franklin convinces Richard Henry Lee of Virginia to leave Philadelphia and go convince Virginia to propose a move for independence (since everyone hates John Adams and Massachusetts). This video stars some enormous fat guy as Richard Henry Lee--which really works in my opinion. The video gets going about 2 minutes into the clip and gets REALLY GOOD towards the end.

"Abigail what's in those kegs?"

SALT PETER JOHHHHN!

Musical Mondays (on Tuesday AGAIN!): Xanadu

Dear Kyle Stewart,

Please know that this blog entry is dedicated to you and the image I have of you under the stage putting rollerskates on Kerry Butler while her legs are dangling into a trap door while singing.

Xanadu... where to even start? On Saturday Tim's (see Tim's Blog) first NetFlix request arrived: Xanadu, so we all watched it. WOW. Seriously WOW. Gene Kelly, Olivia Newton-John, and some guy.

There was a lot more plot to the movie than I was expecting. Olivia Newton-John is a muse who inspires a washed-up artist and an old man to open a new club, called Xanadu. I waited almost the entire movie for Olivia Newton-John to sing the title song. WHAT A WAIT! Fortunately, you don't have to wait that long. Here is the YouTube clip:

Seriously, I was so excited when they started singing this song in the movie. But talk about a reason to do drugs...this movie, it seems, was made to be watched while under the influence of something.

Someone decided this movie was good enough to turn into an entire Broadway musical. And did us all a favor by casting Cheyenne Jackson as the male lead.

Go on Peter's Diet!

Peter just informed me that he's lost 5 pounds over the past few weeks.

What's his secret? Here is a cake made of fruit and flowers. I'm not kidding. This cake contains lemon curd (homemade curd by Peter!) and the whipped topping contains lavender--from the South End Fromagerie of course!

Lastly, go easy on the alcohol. If you're going to drink Cristal, only have a few glasses....

Hopefully Peter's diet will work for you too! To inspire all of my blog readers looking to lose a few pounds for the upcoming warmer seasons, let's track Peter's progress. Starting today, Peter weighs 125 pounds. His performance of "Imagine" has even inspired me to start blogging again! The following YouTube videos are special. The first video is of Enchilada performing for Kelly Clarkson and the gay from Eating Out. He sings And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going). The next video is of Jennifer performing the same number at the Tony's (she won that night for the role, amazing)

Where's my dress?

Musical Mondays (on Tuesday): The Oscars

A MESS

That's right. The musical numbers staged during the Oscars were a mess. And everyone I've talked to agrees: Chenoweth should have sung "Happy Working Song" and Amy Adams should have sung "That's How You Know." Cheny looked lost in the elaborate staging and her voice was just NOT RIGHT. Thank god for YouTube--we have the real version. Hopefully Enchanted will be released on DisneyDVD soon.

Hello Possums

My pick for the next American Idol

The top 24 begin their quest to be the next American Idol tonight. And somehow, once again, I am hooked. Although I am INCREDIBLY disappointed that Josiah and that dorky kid didn't make it into this part of the show. David is my initial favorite. I haven't correctly identified the winner of American Idol this early since I picked Fantasia as my favorite way back in Season 3.

Age: 17

Hometown: Murray, UT

Favorite Quote: "You'll never be lonely if you learn to befriend yourself."

Audition City: San Diego

Musical Influences: Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, Kirk Franklin, Bryan Adams.
